"THE OPTIMIST" Youth Golf Tournament
"THE OPTIMIST" is perhaps the largest International Junior Golf Tournament of all .... the North Pensacola Optimist Club sponsors a qualifier to this prestigious tournament each spring with boy and girl qualifiers ages 10 to 18 moving on to the Optimist International tournament at Trump International Golf Course. Each year 600 youth golfers from 25 countries compete, and many of todays well known professional golfers are past participants.
WAHOO STADIUM is the home of the Pensacola Wahoo's, a Double A baseball affiliate of the Miami Marlins. The North Pensacola Optimist Club earns funds to support its various youth programs by volunteering to collect and direct the paid parking at many of the Wahoo's home games, which are almost always a sellout of 5000 fans.

2023 tournament
The North Pensacola Pre-Qualifying Tournament was played at Cypress Lakes on March 25, 2023. There were divisions for boys and girls ages 10-18. Age group winners must meet target scores and will then advance to the Optimist North Florida District Tournament, April 29, 2023, at Sunny Hills Golf Course, Chipley, Florida. Qualifiers there will advance to The Optimist International Junior Golf Championship Finals, in July, hosted by the Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida. The Optimist, recognized as perhaps the premier junior golf tournament of all, will attract over 600 junior golfers from nearly 30 countries.
